Low contact resistance plating

Low contact resistance plating is used at the portion which has a role to join metals with each other.
Oxidation or sulfuration of metal surface is one of the factors to rise the contact resistance. High corrosion resistant plating is necessary to prevent this phenomenon.
In addition, if micro sliding works is continuously done to the connector by the force such as outside vibration, the contact surface might have abrasion and oxidation gradually by the friction. The contact resistance might consequently rise. This behavior is called a fretting corrosion.
So, low contact resistance plating is required to have corrosion resistance, abrasion and wear-resistant, insertion/extraction performance.
Bright gold plating (cobalt-containing) has been widely used, because of the low contact resistance and the hard the gold plating.
Besides the gold plating, we can provide rhodium plating, bright silver plating, hard silver plating and hard silver plating as a low contact resistance plating.
